The P Word

Hi! My name is D and I am a Procrastinator. It has been 11 months since my last blogpost. Now if i were in AA and I was talking about my last cocktail - this would be a good thing. But I am trying to maintain a travel blog and an 11 month absence is not a good thing. It’s an overwhelming thing. A thing I am trying to change by writing this very post. This morning I was inspired by the Wait but Why blog and this post on Procrastination. I think it’s brilliant, mostly because it is so funny, and it completely de-mystifies a behavior that is so familiar to me. It also happens to accomplish a procrastinators objective - distraction from the task at hand. When I finished reading, I noticed the odd affect of feeling motivated to accomplish something! So this is my attempt to catch up on 11 months of travel - a photographic preview of blogposts to come…

Crazy to see the diversity and to realize that I now have about 24 destinations across 10 countries to write about. I am excited to report that I have taken the inspiration from Wait But Why a step further and hired a Life Coach. I am confident that with her help, I can actually do this. Catch up. I have learned that “Procrastinator” is just a name that excuses the behavior of not getting things done. So I will remove that word from my vocabulary, and from the list of names I call myself.  I only hope that changing the behavior is as easy as removing the word. One of the antonyms of procrastinate is accelerate, which sounds much more my speed - go go go! So I’m going to harness that energy instead.

Can’t wait to explore the rest of 2015!
